 Pregnancy is a time to be very cautious about what you put in and on your body. There are differing opinions on the use of specific Essential Oils during pregnancy. Essential Oils should never be used without dilution during pregnancy. In the opinion of experienced Herbalists, Midwives, Holistic Health Practitioners and Aromatherapists, the following botanical Essential Oils are safe to use at a 1% dilution:
Rose, Neroli Orange Blossom, Lavender, Ylang Ylang, Jasmine, Rose Geranium, Sandalwood, Spearmint, Frankincense, Mandarine Orange and Tangerine.

Natural Insect Repellent
with Spearmint & Rose Geranium
Safe floral scent that repels disease bearing fleas, ticks, flies, mosquitoes, and bees. Formulated for very young children and for use during Pregnancy. Use sparingly every two hours while exposed to insects. Spray clothes, hats and socks rather than skin whenever possible. Spray on tissue near bed at night if insects are present. To keep out of eyes, spray on hands and rub on face. Avoid use on infants younger than 3 months.
Placing mint plants and cinnamon sticks around will help deter insects, especially bees.

The botanical Essential Oils used in Aromatherapy do not mix with water. At Aroma For Health, we use a coconut oil product named Polysorbate 20 to uniformly disperse Essential Oils into our Alcohol-Free Aromatherapy Sprays, Toners, Insect Repellents and Spray Perfumes. Polysorbate 20 (polyoxyethylene [20] sorbitan monolaurate) is derived from coconut oil. It is a non-toxic, nonionic surfactant/emulsifier and a water-soluble liquid used as a dispersing agent which allows oil and water to mix without the use of alcohol. This skin-safe ingredient lubricates and has a soothing effect on the skin. |
